Short Story Project

Hello! After we finish The Things They Carried, we will be doing a short story unit. Everyone will choose a short story to research and present to the class. • Find a short story you like, which you will present to the class • You will assign it to the class to read as homework, so make sure it’s actually short . • You will give background information about your author and the story’s historical context • You will come up with discussion and analysis questions (you may include a short writing prompt if you like) and facilitate a short in class discussion about your story Here are some ideas for short story authors to explore. You must all choose a different author!! No overlap! BRANCH OUT! Choose something contemporary!  -Grace Paley -Miranda July -David Sedaris (this is technically nonfiction, but I'll allow it) -Jorge Luis Borges -Nadine Gordinmer -Alice Munro -Joyce Carol Oates -John Cheever -Raymond Carver -Rick Bass -Anna Noyes...

Sweetheart of the Song Tra Bong Response

Research women's roles in the Vietnam war. How many women were in the Vietnam war? What were their roles? How did the war affect them? Consider how Mary Anne compares to real women in the war. Can her story be considered a "true war story" according to O'Brien's definition? Your response must be at least 300 words, typed. Feel free to make it longer. Post it in the comments section below.
